| I was wondering the other day about how much the petrol has risen in the UK recently. I got the calculator out after doing a bit of research*: On every litre of petrol, the budget allows the government to charge a whopping 52.50p as fuel duty. This, along with the actual price of petrol 26.30p and some retailer commission brings it to about 86p and then, for the icing on the cake, the government charges us 17.5% Value-added tax on fuel tax, which is paid for by our salaries which are already taxed and the petrol goes in cars for which we pay... yes you got it... more tax. Even the insurance premium for the car is taxed not to mention the tax paid when we buy them. Another interesting fact that strikes me here is that some multi-billion ㄒ?collected in lieu of car tax were never even spent on anything to do with buses, trains or for that matter any kind of transport or roads. How the government plays! * moneysavingexpert.com | | |
| So the Taliban on the West wasn't enough we have Burqa Brigade now in Islamabad. For those who don't know Islamabad, it is often referred to as 10 miles from Pakistan for its green open lands, large empty roads and non-conservative attitude towards life. We all love Islamabad (not really!) because its foreign to Pakistan but how can the extremists digest that. They couldn't and worse still, they were unable to do anything about it. So they came up with a new weapon, women aka the Burqa Brigade. So much for Musharraf's 'empowering of women' we have police officers being kidnapped and random people doing their legitimate business being abducted on the most stupid charges. Their reasoning is quite interesting. They have vowed to defend mosques built on illegally acquired land. Yes, that's true, they plan to make 'Muslims' pray on false grounds?!? The thing that surprises me most is how do the mullahs brainwash so many students and direct them to their evil intentions. Well, here's something the intelligence agencies can learn from. I don't believe that for any reason, a group of people can take the law in their own hands. It is unIslamic and wrong and our government should go in, kick everyone out and vacate that area. Where are we headed? | | |
| I write today because I have been disgusted by the actions of some fellow 'Muslims'. If you are thinking of becoming a terrorist, it is not Islamic nor is it anywhere near it. There is no mention of a holy war anywhere in Quran and Jihad is only a strive against oppressor where you can fight an army but not kill women, children, animals or trees. How can you justify in front of Allah your actions where you kill innocent civilians or plan to do so. Our lovely prophet (pbuh) was the light this world has waited for and he ordered safe release of all civilian men, women & children during his wars with the Quraish. You have insulted our religion by disguising your evil intentions in the veil of Islam. If you are actually Muslims, you have to believe that life is Allah's property and you are responsible for taking care of it. If you think you are capable of fighting the oppressor, join your army and stand along with them and fight the enemy. Your evil malicious intentions have no place in our great religion of peace for all human kind. Muslim brothers & sisters, please join hands to root out this terrorism within our community. It has affected me and all of us. We are like a body where the pain of one part is felt by all the rest. It is a real issue today and time is of essence. Work now. | | |
| I was brought up being told India is our biggest enemy. Now please mind my language as I describe how the masses in Pakistan used to think about India. I know I almost certainly would have killed a few understanding it is the right thing to do as Indians are just assholes as far as Pakistan was concerned. Not only myself, but a whole generation of Pakistani students has been brought up being taught so in the national curricula. It is such a shame that interests of politicians was kept upfront while people, with so many similarities on both sides of the border were kept at huge distances. Since coming to UK, all Indians I have met have been excellent people to say the least and that has significantly changed my opinion about them. Infact it would not be wrong to mention the fact that there is a strong bondage between us because of cultural similarities. The point is, would it not be nice to travel to India or Pakistan without the need of visa or travel restrictions; have a single currency in South Asia (we even have the same name for God sake) and just give our children a better place to live in. I mean, with a billion people added, Pakistani companies would have a much larger prospect of selling their high quality goods with all the competition around and vice versa. Bollywood, software, auto industry and almost anything else you can think of will benefit. Human beings, of course, on the top of that list. | | |
| Off all the people I work with, most of the white are non-compliant, or as they wish to call themselves. They do not believe in anything. An official CIA World Fact book figure suggests that officially, this figure has risen to about a quarter of the population in Britain. Now with the remaining 75%, about three quarters of them call themselves Christians or so is defined and because they feel the teachings of the Vatican is not compatible with their style of living, they have decided to come up with their own version, the Church of England. Now I do not know the statistics in USA but I know for a fact that it's majority protestant and so is Ireland. That leaves us with a block of few European countries that do actually support and follow the Pope or the Vatican and yes, some African countries as well, which I must not forget are very crucial to the role of the vatican. The Vatican, for ages, has been trying to bring people to religion by changing the Bible from time to time to meet the expectations of the people. Expectations that the Vatican itself is not sure of. Now with all the measure put in place, Vatican continues to see a sad demise and an ever shrinking Christian population. This is one big concern for the Vatican and the responsibility ends up with the top man, the Pope. He goes home, does his research and is surprised by his findings. While he is doing all he can to make his preaching flexible with the people of his faith, Muslims, on the other hand, teaching a 1400 year old religion without any changes, are still able to practice, preach and grow in number and not only in a few blocks, but everywhere and I refer to USA, Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia when I say that. Now he thinks. He thinks hard and decides to take matters in his own hands and comes out with the most ignorant of all statements ever. While I respect him for being a man of religion, I do actually feel sorry for him because at the end of the day, his version of the truth comes from Vatican. | | |
